Dear parents,
2024 will see us celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Australian Girls Choir and we have plenty to be excited about as we have over 6,500 girls across the country ready to sing and dance their way into the year. For those of you who are returning, thank you for allowing us the privilege of being part of your daughter’s education. As you know the benefits of music education with us go far beyond the stage and we appreciate the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive from parents.
AGC provides a space for young girls to witness and build positive female friendships - a space to build each other up and celebrate the achievements of their peers. This is a powerful standard that creates a strong foundation for our girls’ future engagement with fellow women. ACT Parent
AGC has been a part of our family for almost 20 years with 2 daughters. My daughters have thrived in AGC and it has supported them in developing a vast range of skills including confidence, community, communication with diverse groups, leadership and performance opportunities, flexibility and performance skills. The skills and development my daughters have learned carry them across their life in their school life and outside school. AGC is like a family and my daughters have developed lifelong friendships. If this is your first year with us, we’re very pleased to welcome you to the AGC community. We are genuinely interested in feedback from longstanding and new parents and girls so we encourage you to make contact with us if there is something you wish to discuss. We naturally enjoy hearing about what works and we are also very interested in knowing about the difficulties parents and girls encounter with the way we run the AGC. We are consistently aiming to improve the management and artistic standard of the choir and regularly review the way we organise events and communicate information.
Please stay informed about all things AGC via the eNewsletters, website, Instagram and Facebook.
For those of you who are yet to learn about other ASPA related activities please do:
- Check out ASPA Education as we offer a wide variety of programs nationally including: professional development for teachers, music and dance classes in schools and alternative education settings, along with early childhood education programs,
- Jump onto the Raw Energy Dance Education website – REDed delivers curriculum aligned and extra-curricular dance programs in schools across Australia inspiring students to get active, learn new skills and have fun, and
- Read about Girls from Oz – this is the charity partner to the AGC and is a program in which many of our team members work with, mostly First Nations, girls in remote parts of Australia.
On behalf of the ASPA Board, I wish all parents and girls a very enjoyable anniversary year with the AGC. We have lots of plans and we’re so pleased that you’re part of this vibrant and growing organisation.
